There is something sacred about beginnings that don't announce themselves. They arrive quietly wrapped in subtlety, in timing, in cycles.

When I planned a photoshoot for capturing visuals to compliment my upcoming album, I knew I wanted to work with a horse that carried more than beauty. I was looking for a living symbol of power, stillness, and deep feminine knowing. I found this essence in a Friesian mare, regal and soft-eyed, who stood beside me as if she already knew this story: Haukje J. owned by Misty Meadows Equestrian, LLC.

Hidden beneath the beautiful imagery, silently existing unseen, was a colt awaiting to enter this Earth.

Where Life Hides Softly

Haukje J. carried a secret life inside of her. Upon discovering her pregnancy as an unexpected surprise just days before the shoot, I knew she was the horse that is most aligned with the messaging and mission of this album. As we photographed in the fading sunlight, I gathered inspiration from this elegant creature who engaged with me and shared her softness and presence. I found myself returning to the idea of how so much is happening beyond what we see. Not everything needs to be seen to be felt. A few weeks later, Haukje gave birth to a strong, healthy colt named Emmett.

He was there that day, tucked quietly into the rhythm of her breath. A life, patiently waiting its turn.

Tending What We Cannot See

Like Emmett, this album began in stillness. It lives in the moments where growth happens unobserved. It explores life cycles, emotional flow, the rise and release of energy, and the deep call of Earth-based wisdom.

Themes of nurturing, balance, and sacred responsibility are infused in each note. I believe we are here not only to create, but to care. To protect the wild. To cradle the fragile. To remember our role as protectors of life on this planet.

The deeper I walk into the world of music, the more I witness an unsettling truth that the system is not built for artists, it's built on them.

For upcoming artists, the barriers to entry have never been higher. Distribution fees, algorithmic demands, and constantly shifting content requirements are increasing in both cost and complexity. At the same time, despite reaching millions, pay mere fractions of a cent per stream. It is now near impossible for most independent musicians to rely on music as a full-time career without outside funding or a viral moment.

This reality is not only discouraging, it is disrespectful to those of us who believe in the art itself. We are expected to do it all: write, record, produce, promote, perform, edit, and endlessly market ourselves.. often while being underpaid, undervalued, and underexposed.

Behind the glossy front of the industry lies:

• Contracts that strip artists of rights and royalties
• Playlists that are pay-to-play in everything but name
• A system that rewards conformity over authenticity
• Platforms that elevate numbers over nuance

This is exploitation disguised as opportunity.

But I believe there is a new path forward, and other artists have started to catch on too.

One rooted in connection, creativity, and ownership. One where small artists don't wait to be chosen, but instead build their own stage. One where fans support directly, where stories matter more than stats, and where art can be created and shared in its truest form.

This post isn't a complaint. It is a call to awareness.

The more we acknowledge what is broken, the more we can choose to build something better.
 

If you are an artist feeling disheartened, please know: your voice is valid, your vision is worthy, and your art has a place in this world, even if the system hasn't made space for it yet.

Let's create one.

Life moves in waves. It never truly stands still, yet we find ourselves constantly reaching for stillness, for the illusion of calm waters that never last. The journey is fluid, ever-changing. And while none of us are strangers to this rhythm, sometimes the waves arrive all at once, rapid, unforgiving, and overwhelming. When I found myself in a storm, when one life wave came after the next, I resisted at first, then surrendered, and eventually, I made peace with the tide. In time, I began to see the waves not as chaos, but simply as the structure of life.

It was only after surrendering that clarity began to take shape. Grief loosened its hold and started moving through my heart with a new companion: gratitude. It was in this softened space that the first notes of this album appeared; Not as compositions, but as echoes. Songs came in dreams, in fragmented memories, in the hush between heartbeats (literally). They felt like something ancient and sacred, returned to me gently by something greater. This project is becoming more than music. Each song is rooted in nature, time, and the beauty of existence. I’ve started integrating sounds from my life and surroundings: the barn, the wind, songbirds in the distance, the rain, the air. These elements make the music feel alive.

My musical journey began with classical training, and over time, it has expanded into something deeply personal and atmospheric. I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with inspiring musicians, including international recording artist Samantha Cole, luxury pop artist Miles Arnell. I’ve had the honor of being featured on The Equestrian Podcast and receiving a review of my single “2 Late” from A&R Factory, which wrote: “Melancholy pierces through the melodic verses and the stormy choruses to create a track that leaves no corner of the emotional spectrum unvisited” and I feel that to be truer now than ever. These moments shaped me, but it’s the emotional journey, the connection to nature, and prevailing love that have brought me here.

This album is vulnerable, quiet, and clear. It holds conviction. It asks for integrity. And it asks for support from those who understand what it means to create art out of instinct.

I am currently self-producing this project and remain open to connecting with experienced, aligned producers who feel called to support and collaborate on this journey with care and creative intention.
